about us
Above the Dirt Garden and Honey Shop is a woman-owned garden center and plant shop in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, founded in 2020 by Paula Henson. What was once an old gas station has been completely transformed from grease to green, becoming a colorful community destination for plants, gardening, local honey, seasonal finds, and hands-on experiences.
Open year-round, Above the Dirt is home to an extensive selection of houseplants, native and non-native perennials, trees, shrubs, and everything gardeners need to create beautiful, welcoming spaces. Spring brings colorful annuals, hanging baskets, vegetables, herbs, and garden essentials, while fall means mums, pumpkins, and plenty of seasonal goodness. And no matter the season, you can always stop in for houseplants and honey.
But Above the Dirt is about more than what you can grow. It's about the people you grow alongside. Through plant parties, private workshops, hands-on classes, and team-building experiences, Paula and her team have created a place where plant people can learn something new, find inspiration, and connect with one another.
